80th Anniversary – A Strong Foundation

This month marks 80 years since AF was founded. From going paperless to moving across the country, AF has seen many transformations over the past decades. But 80 years isn’t your average milestone. Keeping a company going strong requires a solid foundation. This foundation is found in our Leadership Brand.
Beginning as an alternative method to costly litigation, AF was founded by the casualty insurance industry in New York in 1943. By 1951, the casualty insurance industry throughout the U.S. recognized how this New York venture reduced costs and improved intercompany working relationships, allowing AF to continue building its membership. The founders saw an industry need and used an innovative method to create a solution.
Innovation, positive intent, and continuous improvement. It’s what AF was built on, and these same values are found in our Leadership Brand today.
Change is inevitable. AF has seen its fair share of it, and with an evolving industry landscape, we will continue to experience new challenges. Navigating change and remaining adaptable is vital to continued success. Our Leadership Brand values keep us united and provide guidance in serving our members and fellow employees. With a cultural foundation firmly established, we have the freedom to discover new innovative ways of serving the industry.
